Company of Angels was commissioned to produce Gap Kennet,
adapting the model to work with Year 12 students and Year 6 pupils from two
schools in Thatcham, West Berkshire.
Forty-seven intrepid
primary school leavers and six Year 12 students are embarking on a
perilous journey into uncharted territory.
. .
Along
the way they face some big questions: how do you navigate when the map hasn’t
been written yet? How do you get directions
if you don’t know where you’re going? And
does everything really need a label?
Exploring
the theme of transitions through movement, words and a mix of performance
styles, You Are Here! (Where?) was
a unique devised piece of theatre performed by a
Gap Company of 11- and 17-year-olds from Thatcham Park Primary and Kennet Schools.
The Gap Theatre Project, created
by Leisa Rea and Renata Allen in 2003, is a
peer-mentoring scheme which brings together primary school children, young
adults and
creative industry professionals to devise an original piece of theatre.
