FATHERS & EGGS and THE WILD GIRL

A co-production with Quicksilver Theatre Company

Supported by:
London Arts

Fathers and Eggs written by:
Heleen Verburg, translation by
Rina Vergano

The Wild Girl written by:
John Retallack
Directed by: John Retallack
Dates: London Schools tour: November 4 – December 8, 2002

Two one-act plays for children aged 8-10, both written to happen in a classroom.

Fathers and Eggs is a wonderful mini-tale about sexuality, birth and death. Heleen Verburg is one of the foremost writers of plays for children in the Netherlands. Her work has been performed throughout Europe and
Fathers and Eggs has been translated into several languages and has successfully been represented in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Eastern Europe and Brazil.

The Wild Girl is a new piece by John Retallack for one 70-year-old performer. This story of a feral girl who lives in a forest explores the journey of a soul beyond birth.

The two plays were performed in an experimental five-week London primary schools tour where the shows were performed walking directly
into classrooms (as intended by the authors)
